About me
Sarah Meister (she/they) is a full-time faculty member in John Jay College (CUNY)'s Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, where her courses include "Voices of Migration," "Troublemakers in the Pursuit of Justice," "Technology and Culture," "Forbidden Love," and more. Sarah received an M.A. in Applied Theatre from the CUNY School of Professional Studies, where she now serves on the faculty as a thesis advisor, thesis reader, and writing coach. Sarah has worked as a theatermaker, facilitator, and cultural organizer with Jewish Voice for Peace, Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, Wonderlust Productions, Cornerstone Theater Company, the Defrost Project, the Creative Arts Team (CAT) Youth Theatre, and many more. Sarah was a 2022 winner of AATE's Distinguished Thesis Award for her master's thesis "Speaking Back and Imagining Forward: Using Applied Theatre to Instigate Dialogue in Museums."
