About me
Dr. Kate Jaskolski is a theatre facilitator, director, and educator with over 20 years of experience creating joyful, inclusive theatre experiences around the world. She holds a PhD in Applied and Educational Theatre from the University of Cape Town and a Master's in Educational Theatre from New York University. Kate's work blends play, sensory exploration, and controlled chaos to create spaces where everyone regardless of ability can belong and thrive. Kate began her career teaching high school theatre in the U.S., where she founded an award-winning inclusive theatre program. Over the years, she has brought her playful, sensory-driven approach to communities in Nigeria, South Africa, Papua New Guinea, Australia, and beyond. Most recently, as the director of Fusion Theatre, Kate collaborated with neurodivergent artists to create performances that reimagine what theatre can be. Her work emphasizes sensory engagement, movement, immersion and visual storytelling to connect with audiences often excluded from traditional arts spaces, including individuals with profound and multiple disabilities. Fusion Theatre's sensory program toured special needs classrooms, delivering storytelling workshops tailored to students with diverse abilities. These workshops culminated in a sensory theatre production designed specifically for the workshop participants, with local schools invited to experience the performance, fostering greater inclusion and community engagement.Kate’s workshops are lively and hands-on, inviting participants to explore how theatre can spark connection, build community, and celebrate difference. Her approach reflects a belief in the power of play to break down barriers and create shared moments of wonder.
