About me
Dylan Russell is a professional stage director, producer and teaching artist. Dylan is an award-winning educator who has taught every age group in formal and informal learning environments for over 20 years. She created OUR STORIES Program that utilizes storytelling and devised theater to reach 16-25 year olds to combat stigma and create awareness about mental health. OUR STORIES (Laguna Playhouse) was the only recipient of the Biller Family Foundation Social Impact Theatre Innovation Award 2021, a special award cycle during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dylan has directed acclaimed productions for the American Conservatory Theatre Conservatory, TheatreFIRST, California Conservatory Theatre, Alchemy Works, New Conservatory Theatre Educational Programs, Cassandra's Call, and Actors Lab Arizona. She served as Assistant Director on productions with American Conservatory Theater and Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Favorite productions include Future Me (TheatreFIRST), Cassandra (A.C.T. Conservatory), Persistent Vegetative State (Dog² Productions), Speed-the-Play (BRT), as well as adapting & directing two of Roald Dahl's works, A Lashing of Malice (Alchemy Works at JMCA) and the North American Premiere of Dahl's hit children's book, Matilda (NCTC). Her play Evanescence was workshopped at the Southampton Theatre Festival. Most recently, she served as Associate Director of the School of Theatre at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and as Director of Education, Youth Theatre & Community Engagement at Laguna Playhouse. She is Artistic Director & Co-Founder of Dog² Productions. She was as Artistic Director at TheatreFIRST and Producing Artistic Director for the California Conservatory Theater. Dylan studied at SUNY Stonybrook Southampton, Vassar College, A.C.T. and is a graduate of the University of Washington where she received her B.A. in Drama. She is a proud member of AEA, SDC, AATE, TYA and TCG.
